Disney+ Hotstar to premiere Vikram Prabhu starrer “TAANAKKARAN” on April 8, 2022

Disney+ Hotstar has engraved an unparalleled calibre of excellence in the Tamil domain with its entertainment bonanzas. Having delivered magnificent entertainers in the past, Disney+ Hotstar is all set to offer yet another content-driven entertainment for Tamil movie buffs titled “Taanakkaran”, directed by Tamizh which will premiere on April 8, 2022. 

The trailer, unveiled on March 31, 2022, across the social media platforms of Disney+ Hotstar, has found a commendable reach. The audiences are appreciating director Tamizh's filmmaking style and actors' stellar performances and they have expressed that the trailer looks absolutely promising. 

Bankrolled by Potential Studios, the film features Vikram Prabhu and Anjali Nair in the lead roles with Lal, MS Bhaskar and Livingston essaying pivotal roles. 

Madhesh Manickam has cranked the camera, Ghibran has struck the musical chords and Philomin Raj as editor is going to be a salient adornment to this movie. Although Tamil cinema has witnessed myriad movies based on the police department, Taanakkaran will offer an unique experience to the audiences with a new premise that they are not familiar with. 

Director Tamizh says, “It’s a pride for a filmmaker like me to get so many golden touches for my project. Disney+ Hotstar has become a tangible symbol of excellence in the Indian OTT panorama, where content-driven movies get recognized and promoted for a wider reach.

I am glad that Disney+ Hotstar has shown interest in Taanakkaran. I thank my producers SR Prakash Babu, SR Prabhu, P Gobinath, and Thanga Prabaharan R for believing in the story. When I approached many production houses with this script, they were either hesitant or suggested too many changes. To my surprise, the producers of Potential Studios never had such intentions, and they spent a huge budget so that my creative process doesn’t get hampered.

Actor Vikram Prabhu said, “The title “Taanakkaran’ itself was hard-hitting, and after listening to this script, I decided to grab this opportunity that will let me explore and exhibit my best potential as a performer. If not for the support of producers, Taanakkaran would not have witnessed such a satisfactory output. The entire team was involved in a vigorous pre-production work that included director Tamizh’s travel across 40 places in Tamil Nadu & Kerala for the sake of the right location. Finally, he zeroed in a school in Vellore that looked perfect for his story backdrop. Lots of homework and hard work have been exerted towards the project.

In particular, the parade scenes demanded intense training that made the director opt for Retired army officers, Garrisons & police instructors instead of actors. Director Tamizh is greatly appreciated by the producers for handling the plethora of new faces. In particular, he has completed this big-budget movie with so many artists in just a span of 50 days.

Actor Vikram Prabhu was very much impressed after listening to the exceptionally brilliant narration and his characterization. Critically acclaimed filmmaker-actor Lal is playing another lead role in this movie. It is noteworthy that director Tamizh kick-started the Taanakkaran scripting process from Lal’s characterization, which is as powerful as the protagonist. 

The multi-faceted actor MS Bhaskar will win raving reviews for his heart-touching characterization. Anjali Nair, who plays the female lead isn’t appearing in a blink-and-miss ladylove role but rather has a pivotal prominence throughout the movie. 

Madhesh Manickam embarks on his journey as cinematographer with this movie. He has delivered a fabulous visual package, which will find its appreciation after release, especially for the parade scenes. Editor Philomin has done remarkable work for the entire film. His insatiable dedication towards this movie was evident with his non-stop editing work for eight days for one particular parade scene. 

Art director Raghavan has played a vital role in shaping Taanakkaran perfectly. Even during the director’s location scouting process, Raghavan traveled along with him to prepare and deliver a spellbinding visual treat so that even the smallest object looks natural and not mere set property. 

Music director Ghibran’s contribution will be the ultimate beautification of this movie. After watching the rushes, he dedicated 6 months to the background score of this movie. 

  

With its wide array of non-stop entertainment movies across various languages and genres Disney+ Hotstar will premiere Taanakkaran from April 8, 2022, onwards.

TamilNadu Health Secretary Dr.J. Radhakrishnan, Dr R Narayana Babu, Pro.Dr.R.Shanthimalar, Sunil Bajaj distributed 11 lakhs worth Free Artificial Limbs to 100 Patients at Government Kilpauk Medical Hospital.

 Madras Knights Round Table 181 and Coimbatore City Round Table 31 in association with the Government Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital organised a two-day artificial limb donation camp, starting on Tuesday.

The massive camp witnessed over 100 beneficiaries who got their measurements taken in the camp. Their artificial limbs will be delivered free of cost within 45 days.

"The Government Medical Kilpauk Hospital and College has given us a list of 150 beneficiaries, of which we are expecting at least a 100 in the camp. Our goal is to start with 181 patients and further scale up. Artificial limbs could prove costly and there are scores of people who require them, but just cannot procure them due to the financial barrier," said Chairman, Madras Knights Round Table 181, Sunil Bajaj.

This is not the first project of Round Table 181. This year, they completed 181 cataract surgeries and also have a long term project in association with Saveetha hospital, called, AATRAL, to provide financial assistance to women and children with potentially curable cancer. The vision is to create a cancer free society, whereby the disease is detected early and timely treatment is given to all. Round Table 181 promotes awareness and delivers affordable medical care to the needy cancer patients, starting with breast and cervical cancer.

"Last month, as a part of women's day celebrations, we chose 27 cops as beneficiaries and have been taking care of the complete cost of their cancer treatment," said Sunil.

Apart from this, Round Table India is widely known for its 'Freedom Through Education' project where classrooms are built for underprivileged children. There are more than 4500 tablers across India.

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma holds a great stature in the Indian film fraternity for his groundbreaking movies, which changed the face of Indian cinema. He has now made a movie titled ‘Kadhal Kadhal Thaan’, which is about two women, who hate men fall in love with each other, thereby battling the odds to retain their relationship. This is the first-ever Indian movie to be based on Lesbian crime thriller. The film is produced by Artsee Media in association with Rimpy Arts International. The movie that is initially made in Hindi will be releasing in Tamil and Telugu on April 8, 2022. The crew comprising filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, heroines Naina Ganguly and Apshara interacted with press and meet to promote the Tamil version of this movie in Chennai. 

Here are some of the excerpts from this event. 

Actress Naina Ganguly said, “I thank Ram Gopal Varma for trusting me and my potential and introducing me to the Telugu movie industry. He has made a unique experiment with this movie, which isn’t an easy task. Usually, a man and woman fall in love, but this movie revolves around two women getting attracted and falling in love with each other.  It was a challenging experience for me. When we started shooting for the film, RGV sir asked me to perform my role with a masculine approach. I underwent lots of preparations for this role, by observing the body language of men and reflecting it. Everyone perceives lesbians as a crime. To be precise, it’s not a crime, but a hormonal issue. I am happy to be a part of this movie that speaks about the emotions of these people.”

Actress Apsara said, “I am glad and elated to witness such a wonderful reception for this movie. I am excited about the movie getting released in Tamil and Telugu. I am gleeful to get introduced to the Tamil movie industry through the movie Kadhal Kadhal Thaan.  There are many eminent personalities in this industry. This film is about a homosexual relationship, which is seen as a crime in our society today. However, I am so much astonished about their perception of Ram Gopal Varma on this issue. He was clear about the fact that homosexuals are not criminals, but God’s children like any other men and women. This is a commercial movie that revolves around two women falling in love. Audiences will definitely understand the emotions of these characters. This is the first-ever time, a romantic duet song is placed between two women in a movie. I am happy to be a part of a new-fangled movie. I thank Ram Gopal Varma sir and the entire crew for being a great support. I request everyone to watch the movie and support it.” 

Director Ram Gopal Varma said, “The basic ideation of this film’s theme it was a unique experience to me. We also look the homosexual individuals as outcasts and aliens. Although Government has accepted and welcomed this change, we are unable to perceive them as normal people. There are lots of crime stories based on lovers, and I wanted to bring forth a change. That’s when, the inception of writing a story based on two women, who become homosexuals for some reason for some reasons happened. How the society receives them? What’s their actual issue? With so many questions brimming up over my mind, I happened to get the basic gist of this movie. Initially, Naina Ganguly was reluctant, although she liked the idea. Later she accepted to be a part of this film. There have been lots of challenges while materializing this movie. It’s not an easy thing to shoot a duet song featuring two women in love, and it was quite a different and difficult task indeed. I thank Naina Ganguly and Apsara for their bold decision to be a part of this film. If not for their support and confidence, this film would have not been possible, I am sure, you’ll love this movie and appreciate it.” 

 

Written, directed and produced by Ram Gopal Varma, the Kadhal Kadhal Thaan features Naina Ganguly, Apsara Rani, Rajpal Yadav, Gazi and Mithun Purndari in the titular characters. Malharbat Joshi is handling cinematography, Kamal Ramadugu is the editor, Praveen Paul has composed songs, Anand has composed background score, Ricky has penned lyrics for Telugu version, Madhukar Devara is the art director.  The film is produced by An Artsee Media & Rimpy Arts International Production.

The Malaysian production company Trium Studios helmed by Andy has taken a huge leap forward and is all set to release their Malaysian Tamil film Poochandi (renamed as Poosandi Varan) in Tamil Nadu on April 1. The critically-acclaimed film had its initial theatrical run in Malaysia on January 27, 2022. 

Written and directed by JK Wicky, Dustin has composed Poosandi Varan's music and cinematography by Ashalisam.

In this film Logan, Dhinesh S Krishnan, Ganesan Manoharan, Ramana and Hamshini Perumal were acted as the leading characters. JK Wicky also doubles up as an editor. Inspired by historical and true events the thriller film is expected to open to a rousing reception in Tamil Nadu after Malaysia and Singapore.

At the event, the duo also launched the Ariel limited-edition Name-Change packs, customized with their own names. These special packs are customized with some of the most common male-names of the country. The pack can either be given to those men who are already leading by example and taking up joint responsibility of chores, or it can be brought into households where it can become a conversation starter to pave the way for more equal division of household chores. These packs also take the conversation forward, that was started by comedian AnuMenon aka Lola Kuttywhere she suggested to change her name from Anu to Anil, her husband’s best friend’s name, in an attempt to create awareness and get men to see her and all women as equals. Advanced Apomorphine Pumps for Parkinson’s Patients Launched in Chennai

 India emerging as a global hotspot for Parkinson’s disease, say experts at Academic Symposium on Advanced Parkinson’s Disease

CHENNAI / March 17, 2022: India is emerging as a hotspot for Parkinson’s disease, said world’s top experts assembled at the Academic Symposium on Advanced Parkinson’s Disease held at Westminster Hospital in Chennai. The country is home to about 580,000 Parkinson’s patients, a figure expected to double by 2030. Most studies on the disease in India show a prevalence of about 120 cases per 100,000 population. Though the majority of patients are above 50 years of age, the incidence in the younger population is also on the rise. The medical community has few insights into the genetic and environmental risk factors for Parkinson’s Disease specific to India, in the absence of a national registry of patients. This is alarming considering that Parkinson’s is set to emerge as a major non-communicable degenerative disorder to burden the healthcare system of India, said the doctors.

In a boon to patients of Parkinson’s Disease in Chennai, advanced D-mine apomorphine pumps and pens (injections) manufactured by German pharma major Ever Pharma have been launched at the event by Celera Neuro Sciences. These third-generation apomorphine-delivery devices, widely used in Europe, are now available for patients at Westminster Hospital.

Said Dr. Babu Narayanan, Medical Director, Celera Neuro Sciences: “This is for the first time in India that advanced European apomorphine devices are available for Parkinson’s patients, who till now had only two options for treatment: oral pills for early stages of the disease, or Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery for advanced stages which is expensive and not recommended for patients above 70 years. The D-mine pumps and pens fill this gap and offer an important medical option in the management of Parkinson’s. They ensure much better outcomes for patients who haven’t achieved optimum benefits with available drugs or are suffering from side-effects of oral medications.”

Said Dr. Vinod Metta, Director - Movement Disorders & Parkinson's Centre of Excellence at King's College Hospital, London, who was present at the launch of D-mine pumps and pens at Westminster Hospital: “Apomorphine therapy gives relief during off periods when medication, namely levodopa, is not working optimally. As a result, patients start having symptoms like tremors, rigidity and anxiety. Several studies show 50% daily off time in patients. Apomorphine therapy delivered through a continuous-infusion pump reduces the requirement of levodopa and eliminates or substantially reduces the need for oral medication. Motor fluctuations also disappear in patients with apomorphine therapy.”

Added Dr Arun Kulanthaivelu, President, Westminster Hospitals, Chennai: “We are delighted to offer world-class apomorphine therapy, widely used in Europe, to patients in Chennai through the D-mine pumps and pens. The current pumps available in India are not patient-friendly and lack reliability. Patients need to refill them after breaking ampules of apomorphine, which is difficult to do with trembling hands. In contrast, D-mine apomorphine pumps can be self-handled by patients in five easy steps. The pump-filling process is controlled electronically, with high safety and convenience. D-mine pumps are pre-filled and offer continuous infusion of apomorphine, leading to absorption within five minutes. This will be a big boon for Parkinson’s patients, positively impacting their quality of life.”

Parkinson’s patients need to take medications at timely intervals, which often leads to fluctuating levels of medication in their bodies and irregular benefits. Continuous Dopaminergic Therapy is a method by which the body receives dopamine on a continuous basis, because of which fluctuations associated with medications are negated significantly. With the launch of D-mine apomorphine continuous-infusion pumps and injection pens, Indian patients can now benefit from third-generation Continuous Dopaminergic Therapy, which till now was available only in Western countries.
