Mega Women Empowerment event to be conducted by Rotary district 3234 and Inner Wheel District 323 Rotary District 3234 Women Empowerment Team and Inner Wheel District 323, will come together on the occasion of International Women’s Day and organize a unique saree walkathon on Sunday, 9th March, 2025, between 5.30 to 7.30 am at YMCA, Nandanam, to create awareness and to promote nutrition and fitness among women. This engaging initiative is aimed to encourage women to embrace a healthy lifestyle, while proudly showcasing traditional attire. Around 1000 women will attend and participate in a saree zumba session, talk by a nutritionist, live band performance, flash mob performance, and a saree walkathon. The purpose of the event is to empower women and to also support underprivileged women excelling in sports backgrounds. Visually challenged women from the cricket team will be given sports gear, needy girls who are state players will be given financial support to pursue their sporting career, and a housewife turned marathoner Suganthi B will be awarded with a “Sports Achiever” Award for completing more than 100 marathons and winning several prizes. Rotary District 3234 Governor NS Saravanan, and his spouse Bharathi Saravanan, Rotary District 3234 Women Empowerment Chairperson Kamala Selvam, Inner Wheel District 323 Office bearers Anandhi Sabesan and Sukanya Sriram and several other dignitaries from the Rotary and Inner Wheel fraternity will be attending the event.
